Rio Tinto has energized a new 25MW solar plant at its Kennecott copper operations in Utah, increasing the site's solar capacity to 30MW. The plant uses tellurium produced at Kennecott to manufacture the solar panels, demonstrating a circular critical-minerals supply chain. This reduces Kennecott's Scope 2 emissions by about 6%, equivalent to removing 4,400 cars from the road each year.
