On February 22 evening, Berkshire Hathaway Inc. released its annual report for 2024. The data showed that the company's revenue in 2024 was US$371.433 billion, up from US$364.482 billion in the same period last year, and the market expected US$371.953 billion. Berkshire Hathaway A's net profit for the full year of 2024 was US$89.995 billion, down from US$96.223 billion in the same period last year, and the market expected US$60.706 billion.

Moreover, the annual report also showed that the operating profit in the fourth quarter of 2024 was US$14.53 billion, up from US$8.48 billion in the same period last year. The net profit attributable to Berkshire shareholders was US$19.694 billion, down from US$37.574 billion in the same period last year. The net profit per A-share was US$13,695, lower than US$26,043 in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Buffett said that Berkshire's performance in 2024 exceeded expectations, despite the fact that 53% of its 189 operating companies reported a decline in earnings. We significantly increased our holdings of these highly liquid short-term securities as U.S. Treasury yields rose, and the investment income grew substantially, which helped us.

Buffett also said that the value of the traded stocks held by Berkshire last year fell from US$354 billion to US$272 billion, but the value of its non-listed equity holdings increased and is still far higher than the value of its traded stock portfolio. We will always invest most of their money in stocks - mainly U.S. stocks, although many of these companies have significant international businesses. Berkshire will never be more inclined to hold cash equivalents assets than to hold equity in high-quality companies, whether controlling or partial.
