Renowned tech journalist Mark Gurman: Apple (AAPL.US) employees believe the company is two years behind industry leaders in AI
Mark Gurman, a well-known tech journalist, recently reported that some Apple (AAPL.US) employees believe the company is about two years behind in its development of artificial intelligence. Gurman said that Apple's internal research showed that the accuracy of ChatGPT was about 25% higher than Apple's voice assistant Siri and could answer more questions. He also said: "Some Apple employees believe that so far, the company's generative AI technology is at least two years behind industry leaders."
Moreover, Gurman said that Apple Intelligence would run on every Apple device with a screen by 2026, and Apple had a big advantage in catching up with competitors - it could quickly push new features to a massive number of devices.
Apple launched Apple Intelligence at its WWDC24 conference in June this year. Apple Intelligence's core lies in its powerful data processing and context-aware capabilities, which can deeply understand various data in the device, including photos, emails, messages, etc., and provide personalized intelligent services based on this. In addition to basic data processing capabilities, Apple Intelligence also has strong learning and reasoning capabilities. It can continuously learn users' usage habits, understand users' intentions and needs, and provide more accurate and personalized services accordingly.
It was reported earlier that the Apple Intelligence feature would be released on October 28 with iOS 18.1. This update will bring the first wave of Apple Intelligence features to iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 series users, including a new Siri interface and faster response speed, writing tools for rewriting, summarizing, and proofreading text, notification summaries, and photo removal (removing unnecessary elements from images). Some more advanced Apple Intelligence features will be released in subsequent updates.
