Regions Honors Lieutenant General A.C. Roper With Annual History in Motion Award

Regions Bank, a prominent financial institution, has once again demonstrated its commitment to celebrating Black History Month by honoring distinguished Black leaders who have made significant contributions to their communities. This year, the bank presented the annual History in Motion Award to Lieutenant General A.C. Roper, the first African American in the Army Reserve's 113-year history to achieve the rank of lieutenant general.



Lieutenant General Roper's impressive career spans over four decades, during which he served simultaneously in the military and civilian law enforcement for more than three decades. As the chief of the Birmingham Police Department for 10 years, he worked tirelessly to create a fairer, safer, and more united Birmingham. He has also received numerous awards and decorations for his service, including the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, and Joint Service Commendation Medal, among others.
