Publishers fear that AI summaries are reducing online traffic and negatively impacting their revenue. Reach, owner of The Mirror and Daily Express, attributes the decline in traffic to AI Overviews, which provide a summary of search results on Google. Publishers argue that they provide valuable content but receive no financial benefit from the reduced clicks. Google's new AI Mode feature is also causing concern, as it may further reduce the number of clicks to publisher sites.
