Proficient Auto Plunges 9.29% Amid Tariff Fears, Weak Sales
On April 10, 2025, Proficient AutoPAL-- experienced a significant drop of 9.29% in pre-market trading, reflecting investor concerns and market volatility.
Proficient Auto Logistics Inc. recently acquired BrothersTOL-- Auto Transport LLC, a Pennsylvania-based company, to expand its operations in the northeastern markets. This acquisition is expected to be immediately accretive and contribute to Proficient's long-term financial and operational objectives. The addition of Brothers Auto increases Proficient's fleet capacity by 13%, enhancing its ability to transport automobiles from manufacturers to dealers.
However, Proficient's business has been impacted by a weak auto sales environment and new challenges posed by potential tariffs on imported automobiles and auto parts. The current presidential administration's intention to impose new or increased tariffs on imported goods from countries including Canada, Mexico, and the European Union could result in decreased shipping volumes and increased product costs, potentially having a material adverse effect on Proficient's revenues and results of operations.
These factors, combined with the overall market volatility, have contributed to the recent decline in Proficient Auto's stock price, which has been trading below its $15 IPO price since September and reached a new low of $6.81 on April 7.
