Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off three Vande Bharat Express trains in Bengaluru, marking a significant milestone in regional connectivity and travel time reduction. The Bengaluru-Belagavi Vande Bharat Express, the 11th service in Karnataka, covers 611 km in just 8.5 hours, saving approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes compared to existing services [1].The Bengaluru-Belagavi Vande Bharat Express connects India's Silicon City with Belagavi, a hub of premier medical and engineering institutions. The route traverses key cities such as Dharwad, Hubballi, Haveri, Davangere, and Tumakuru, fostering economic and educational opportunities [1].
Modi also inaugurated the Yellow Line of Bangalore Metro Rail, expected to ease traffic congestion in the city's IT hub. The Yellow Line, with a route length of over 19 km and 16 stations, is worth around Rs 7,160 crore and will increase the operational metro network in Bengaluru to over 96 km [2].
The new Bengaluru-Belagavi Vande Bharat Express will begin commercial service on 11 August, running six days a week with stops at Yesvantpur, Tumakuru, Davangere, Haveri, Hubballi, and Dharwad. The train offers AC Chair Car and Executive Chair Car options, with fares from ₹1,575 to ₹2,955 inclusive of catering charges [3].
This latest addition to the Vande Bharat network in Karnataka reflects Indian Railways' focus on reducing travel times and improving passenger comfort across the state. The enhanced connectivity will benefit students, professionals, farmers, and traders, while promoting economic growth and cultural exchanges across the region [1].
