"Pi Coin Surges: Cars to Coffee, Despite Regulatory Storm"
Pi Network's PIPI-- Coin is gaining momentum worldwide, with growing adoption among merchantsMBIN-- despite regulatory hurdles. The native currency of the Pi NetworkPI-- is being increasingly accepted as a means of payment for day-to-day goods and services, with clients spread across countries like the USA, China, Vietnam, Thailand, and India.
One of the most notable developments is in China, where BYD Auto Service Co., Ltd. in Changsha City, Hunan Province, has allowed buyers to make full Pi payments for cars. Around 40 buyers have reportedly purchased vehicles worth a Global Consensus Value (GCV) of $314,159 each using Pi, according to Doris Xin, the founder of the Pi Network Global GCV Movement. Investor backing from the likes of Gaoling Group and Sequoia Capital has also contributed to a positive sentiment within the Pi ecosystem.
In Vietnam, everyday businesses like Queanh Gia Coffee now accept Pi payments, allowing customers to buy meals for as low as 0.003 Pi. Even in South Korea, some enterprises allow their customers to partially settle purchases using Pi Coin. A plastic surgery clinic in the country has accepted Pi for the second half of its payments, now valued at about $37 per Pi. A recent shopping event in Thailand was also held with Pi Coin as a mode of exchange, further supporting its uptake.
The impact of Pi payment is also being felt in the US. Florida media has reported that the token is now being accepted by merchants, signaling a potential achievement for the Pi Network in the West.
Despite its growing adoption, regulatory complications remain a challenge for Pi Coin. Chinese authorities have cautioned the crypto community, with some observers labeling it a scam due to unclear frameworks and the absence of legitimate recognition or authority. Vietnamese authorities have also warned citizens against making Pi transactions, citing the token's lack of real-world applications and self-assigned value. Thailand has officially banned payments made with digital assets, making Pi transactions potentially illegal. South Korea, similarly, does not recognize cryptocurrencies as a legal means of payment, which could hinder businesses dealing with Pi Coin.
During the latest trading session, Pi's network PI tokens traded at $1.73, showing a decline of about 0.6% in the last 24 hours. Despite this, the movement remains volatile. Pi Network's presence in numerous countries amid regulatory uncertainty highlights the rising demand for
