Oracle Lays Off Thousands, Stock Falls 3.9%

Oracle has begun a new round of layoffs, with US employees receiving emails informing them of their positions being eliminated and Monday being their final working day. The total number of affected employees has not been disclosed, although some teams could face reductions of up to 10%. The layoffs are part of a restructuring effort that started in June 2025 and is expected to cost $2.8 billion, with much of the spending related to severance and other workforce-reduction expenses. OracleORCL-- is also spending heavily to expand its cloud and AI infrastructure. The latest cuts have weighed on investors, with Oracle stock dropping 3.64% to close at $144.79 and slipping another 0.29% in after-hours trading.
