Oracle has reported a dramatic surge in its remaining performance obligations (RPO), which has soared to a staggering $455 billion, marking a 359% year-over-year increase. This rapid growth was driven primarily by extensive cloud contracts with leading AI companies such as OpenAI, xAI, and MetaMETA--, positioning OracleORCL-- as a key infrastructure provider for AI model training. In the recent earnings call, CEO Safra Catz highlighted that Oracle has become the 'go-to place' for AI workloads.

In response to the escalating demand, Safra Catz announced a revision of the company's capital expenditure guidance to around $35 billion for the fiscal year. Additionally, she forecasted an ambitious long-term growth trajectory for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), projecting a 77% growth for the fiscal year. The intent is to continue this rapid expansion over the next four years, aiming to exceed the trillion-dollar mark.

Chairman and CTO Larry Ellison spotlighted AI's transformative impact on Oracle, with an emphasis on the AI inference market, which he believes will surpass the training market in size. Oracle's strategy to capture the inference market involves the introduction of the new 'AI Database,' which integrates the use of vectorization to facilitate AI models in understanding enterprise private data.

The company's quarterly earnings call distilled several key points: the RPO has seen a substantial increase, reflecting a surging demand for AI-driven cloud infrastructure. Oracle is actively engaging with major AI clients, further entrenching its position as a pivotal platform for AI workload training and inference.

Ellison reiterated the more extensive opportunity in the AI inference market, leveraging Oracle’s dominance in enterprise data management. This positions Oracle to effectively combine AI capacities with its robust database technologies. The core technological advancement, the 'AI Database,' promises enhanced understanding of private enterprise data through advanced inference powered by AI models.

Oracle has also integrated a wide range of advanced AI models into its cloud platform, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, and Llama, providing clients with extensive options for connecting their private data to these models.

Moreover, Oracle has revised its financial outlook, projecting significant growth in OCI revenue over the coming years, primarily supported by capital investments in revenue-generating server equipment rather than conventional infrastructure.

Ellison emphasized Oracle’s performance advantage in high-speed networking, which he identifies as a critical factor in securing cost-efficient AI model training contracts, claiming, "Our network moves data very quickly. If we are twice as fast, then the cost is half."

With AI technology transforming Oracle's operations, the company continues to lead the application development frontier. Oracle's new applications are AI-generated, underscoring its advanced position in the field, with Ellison stating, "Our new applications are AI themselves."
