The MOU, signed on July 02, 2025, marks a significant milestone for Oklo as it continues to progress towards the commercial readiness of its Aurora powerhouses. The digital monitoring room, which will serve as the anchor for Oklo's operator training and simulation center, will be equipped with ABB's state-of-the-art technology. This room is designed to support simulation, training, and licensing preparation, crucial components of Oklo's commercial readiness strategy.

This innovative approach is enabled by the Aurora design's advanced safety profile and operational simplicity. The new training center will leverage this design to prepare operators for the future of nuclear power.
The MOU also reflects Oklo's recent regulatory milestone with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's acceptance of its Product-Based Operator Licensing Framework Topical Report for review. This report proposes a technology-based licensing framework that departs from the traditional model, enabling operators to be licensed for the Aurora powerhouse design itself. This approach allows operators to monitor multiple plants from a central location, leveraging the Aurora design's automation and inherent safety features.
Through the MOU, Oklo and ABB intend to explore broader collaboration opportunities, including digitalization, automation, and electrification of future powerhouse sites, as well as joint research and development related to data center integration and advanced energy systems.
