A new study has found that obesity rates in Canada increased faster in the four years after the COVID-19 pandemic began compared to the prior 11 years. Women and younger adults were particularly affected, with obesity prevalence increasing by 1.1 percentage points per year after the pandemic, double the pre-pandemic rate. The study suggests that public health restrictions during the pandemic may have contributed to these increases.
