The Rubin CPX is purpose-built to manage large-scale AI tasks, separating the understanding and response generation processes to enhance efficiency. According to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, the Vera Rubin platform marks a significant leap in AI computing, with the Rubin CPX being the first CUDA GPU designed for massive-context AI. This means it can process millions of tokens of knowledge simultaneously, which is crucial for AI models that require extensive reasoning.
Nvidia estimates that deploying $100 million in this hardware could generate $5 billion in token revenue. The company's Grace Blackwell-based BG300 NVL 72 system, which is currently in use, will be outperformed by the new Vera Rubin NVL 144 CPX, offering 7.5x more AI performance.
The Rubin CPX will be integrated with Nvidia's Vera CPU and Rubin GPU, and is designed to work seamlessly with cloud service providers, which make up about 50% of Nvidia's sales. The company has also been working to resume shipments of its H20 GPU to customers in China, following a temporary ban by the Trump administration.
Shares of Nvidia have been performing well, with a 25% year-to-date increase and a 63% increase over the last 12 months. The company reported better-than-anticipated earnings per share and revenue in Q2, but missed slightly on Data Center segment revenue.

Nvidia plans to release a new chip system, Rubin CPX, in 2026, designed for AI video and software creation. The chip separates the understanding and response generation processes, increasing efficiency. The company claims that deploying $100 million of this hardware will generate $5 billion in revenue. The new system will improve AI models that do reasoning with large amounts of knowledge and evolve software generation capabilities beyond current capabilities.
Nvidia (NVDA) has announced the Rubin CPX GPU, designed to handle million-token coding and generative video applications. Unveiled at the AI Infra Summit in Santa Clara, California, the Rubin CPX is part of Nvidia's Vera Rubin NVL 144 CPX platform, which includes 144 GPUs and a new category of processors called CPX. The chip is expected to be available by the end of 2026.The Rubin CPX is purpose-built to manage large-scale AI tasks, separating the understanding and response generation processes to enhance efficiency.
