NVIDIA CEO: I would love to buy a Xiaomi car
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has announced that the Donald Trump administration has lifted export restrictions on Nvidia's AI chip H20, allowing the company to resume sales to China. This decision comes after months of negotiations and criticism from Huang regarding the initial export restrictions imposed by the Trump administration citing national security concerns [1].During an interview with China Central Television (CCTV), Huang stated, "The U.S. government has approved our export, allowing us to ship." He expressed his excitement about the decision, stating, "I’m very much looking forward to shipping H20 quickly." The H20 chip, which has lower specifications compared to Nvidia's latest AI chips, will now be available in the Chinese market, marking a significant step forward for Nvidia's global expansion [1].
In addition to the H20 chip, Nvidia has also announced the launch of a new graphics card called 'RTX Pro,' designed specifically for computer graphics, digital twins, and AI applications. According to Reuters, RTX Pro has been developed exclusively for the Chinese market, fully complying with current U.S. government export regulations [1].
Huang visited Beijing to attend the 3rd China International Supply Chain Expo, which opens on July 16, to announce this news personally. During his trip, he met with Ren Hongbin, chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and Lei Jun, CEO of Chinese big tech company Xiaomi [1].
This development is expected to have a positive impact on Nvidia's financial performance, as it opens up a new market for its AI chips. The company is likely to see increased sales and revenue from the Chinese market, which is one of the largest and most rapidly growing tech markets in the world [1].
