NOFD Recruit Class R-02-24 Graduates and Receives Awards

The New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) held a promotion ceremony for Recruit Class R-02-24 and one member promoted to Fire Captain. The recruits completed a 22-week training program and received certifications in firefighting, hazardous materials, and medical first response. Superlative awards were presented to outstanding recruits, including the Fellowship Award, Leadership Award, Physical Fitness Award, Administrator's Award, and Director's Award.

The New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) recently held a promotion ceremony for its latest recruit class, R-02-24. The 22-week training program, which began in February, culminated in certifications for the recruits in essential areas such as firefighting, hazardous materials, and medical first response [1].

The graduation ceremony was a momentous occasion for the NOFD, with several awards presented to outstanding recruits. One of the most prestigious awards, the Fellowship Award, was given to Justin Raymond for his exceptional camaraderie and team spirit. The Leadership Award, which recognizes the recruit with the potential to become an outstanding firefighter, went to Ross Flowers.

David Williams received the Physical Fitness Award for his impressive overall fitness performance during the training program. Ross Flowers also received the Administrator's Award for achieving the highest academic average. Nikolas Martinez was presented with the Superintendent's Award for his exceptional performance in academics, physical ability, leadership, and safety.

Charles Fortenberry, Daniel Waldron, Jeremy Melvin, and Ross Flowers were awarded the Group Award for their outstanding performance in all categories of training, safety, leadership, and teamwork.

Upon graduation, the NOFD Fire Recruits will be assigned to three different platoons and will be detailed to various engine houses across the city during their probationary period. The promotion ceremony marked the end of an intensive training regimen and the beginning of promising careers for these dedicated individuals.
