NASA cancels lunar orbital station plans and will use components to build a $20 billion lunar surface base over the next seven years, according to new director Jared Isaacman. The Lunar Gateway, built by Northrop Grumman and Vantor, was intended to be a lunar orbiting space station. Isaacman stated that despite challenges with hardware and timelines, the equipment can be reused to support surface and other program objectives.
