Mondelez Canada Discontinues Jersey Milk Bars Amid Shift to Other Pure Milk Chocolate Options

Mondelez Canada is discontinuing its Jersey Milk chocolate bars due to low consumer demand. The decision came after a portfolio review showed consumers prefer other pure milk chocolate bars like Cadbury Dairy Milk. Jersey Milk production will cease, but no job cuts will result. The product dates back to 1924 and was developed by William Neilson Ltd.

Mondelez Canada Inc. has announced the discontinuation of its Jersey Milk chocolate bars, effective immediately. The decision follows a portfolio review that revealed a significant shift in consumer preferences towards other pure milk chocolate bars, such as Cadbury Dairy Milk. According to spokesperson Pierina De Carolis, Jersey Milk was only produced in Canada and the end of its production will not result in any job cuts.

The chocolate bar, which dates back to 1924, was developed by Canadian dairy brand William Neilson Ltd. Over the years, a series of acquisitions placed Jersey Milk under the purview of Mondelez International, which operates a downtown Toronto Cadbury chocolate factory employing nearly 400 workers.

The discontinuation of Jersey Milk is a strategic move by Mondelez Canada to align its product offerings with current market trends. The company aims to focus on products that have a higher demand and better align with consumer preferences.
