"Millionaire Ethereum User Burns Wealth, Claims Mind Control"
Mysterious User Burns ETH Worth Millions and Writes a Concerning Message
An anonymous Ethereum user, identifying themselves as Hu Lezhi, recently made headlines by burning 500 ETH, valued at approximately $1.65 million, and donating a further $5.35 million to various charitable causes. The transactions included on-chain messages, where the sender detailed a series of outlandish complaints against Kuande Investment, their apparent employer, related to mind control. The user also threatened suicide.
Hu's messages sparked concern within the Ethereum community and the broader crypto space. Tron founder Justin Sun attempted to reach out to the user, encouraging the community to give Hu the chance to express his views. Brain chip research has been a controversial topic in the crypto industry overall.
In addition to burning 500 ETH, Hu burned or donated 1647 more tokens to various crypto-related charitable causes, such as Wikileaks and Endaoment, as well as the Ethereum Foundation. In total, this second round of donations and smaller burns lightened Hu's Ethereum wallets by about $5.35 million.
Hu claimed that since October 2022, he had realized that he had been monitored and manipulated by a mind control organization since birth. He stated that he had lost his dignity as a human being and decided to leave the world, hoping that the ugly world would be destroyed soon.
The price of ETH saw a brief spike on the day of the incident, but it is likely unrelated to this incident. The Ethereum gains were mostly caused by Solana controversies, but Hu's actions may have contributed to either the rise or decline in price.
Community sleuths have identified Hu's apparent employer as Kuande Investments, which has been linked to WizardQuant Capital Management. Despite this name mixup, an unaffiliated individual has already launched a Kuande meme coin. Other meme coins named after Hu are also being launched on Solana. Whatever mental health episode triggered Hu's Ethereum burn, it has already contributed to the meme space.
Unfortunately, Hu's claims about brain chips and mind control are far too outlandish to take at face value. As of now, the crypto community hopes that Hu can get help before he seriously hurts himself.
