Microsoft Enters AI Market with In-House Models to Compete with OpenAI and Google

Microsoft has released its first in-house AI models, MAI-1-preview and MAI-Voice-1, under the Microsoft AI team. These models, designed to compete with OpenAI, Google, and Meta, will integrate with Microsoft products like Windows, Office, and Teams. MAI-1-preview uses a "mixture-of-experts" design, while MAI-Voice-1 can generate audio in seconds and supports multiple speakers and voice styles. Microsoft plans to build more specialized models and continue using a mix of its own, OpenAI's, and open-source models.
