Researchers at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and Micron have co-designed a new hardware-software architecture, Crete, purpose-built for science applications. The system features 15 terabytes of active memory co-located with processors, unique in the DOE laboratory complex and high-performance computing community. The Crete testbed is available to researchers from other national laboratories and academia who need more memory than most computing architectures can provide.
