Metaplanet Boosts BTC Holdings to Top 15
Metaplanet, a Tokyo-based company, has announced the purchase of an additional 135 Bitcoin (BTC), further solidifying its position as one of the top 15 publicly traded companies with the largest BTC reserves. The acquisition, valued at 1.94 billion yen ($13 million), brings Metaplanet's total holdings to 2,235 BTC.
The company spent an average of 14,360,449 yen on the most recent purchase, with the average purchase price across all holdings at 12,441,856 yen. This converts to approximately $81,195 per BTC, which is currently trading around $89,000.
Metaplanet's BTC portfolio has yielded a return of 23.2% so far this year. Despite this, the company's stock price has declined by 3% to 6,010 yen, a drop of less than 20% from its all-time high.
In a recent development, Metaplanet has raised $47 million in equity at market in the first four trading days of its “21m Plan,” with 5.54% of the plan completed to date. This strategic move is part of the company's ongoing commitment to expanding its BTC holdings and capitalizing on the growing demand for cryptocurrencies.
