Metaplanet Boosts Bitcoin Holdings by 319 BTC, 95.6% Q1 Yield
Metaplanet Inc. has recently expanded its Bitcoin holdings by acquiring an additional 319 BTC, purchased at an average price of $83,147 per coin. This latest acquisition brings the company's total Bitcoin holdings to 4,525 BTC, with an aggregate cost basis of $408.1 million and an average acquisition price of $90,194.
This move is part of Metaplanet’s broader strategy, initiated in December 2024, to enhance shareholder value through the use of digital assets. The company evaluates its performance using BTC Yield, a metric that measures the growth of Bitcoin holdings relative to the number of shares outstanding. For the first quarter of 2025, Metaplanet’s BTC yield reached 95.6%, with a year-to-date figure of 6.5% as of April 14.
The company's dynamic capital market activities, including bond issuances and stock acquisition rights, have enabled it to raise substantial funds while minimizing dilution. Approximately 41.7% of the company’s “210 million plan” has been executed, demonstrating its commitment to acquiring 21,000 BTC by 2026 through the issuance of 21 million tokens.
Metaplanet's aggressive Bitcoin accumulation strategy reflects a growing trend among corporations that view Bitcoin as a store of value and a hedge against economic volatility. Despite ongoing market uncertainty and potential disruptions, Metaplanet's latest purchase solidifies its position as the ninth-largest corporate Bitcoin holder globally. This strategic move underscores the company's confidence in Bitcoin as a key treasury asset, aligning with its broader vision of leveraging digital assets to enhance shareholder value.
