Metaplanet's Bitcoin Holdings Surge to 2,100 BTC, 2,046% Growth in 10 Months
Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has significantly increased its Bitcoin (BTC) holdings, now owning 2,100 BTC, which represents 0.01% of the total BTC supply. This marks a substantial growth from the company's initial Bitcoin strategy, which began on April 8, 2024.
Metaplanet's latest acquisition of 68.59 BTC was made at an average price of 14,527,372 yen ($96,951) per BTC, totaling 996,432,413 yen ($6.65 million). The company's total Bitcoin holdings, as of February 20th, amount to 25.869 billion yen ($172.49 million), with an average investment of 12,318,518 yen ($82,146) per BTC.
The current price of Bitcoin is $98,186, which brings the value of Metaplanet's aggregate Bitcoin stash to $206.19 million. Since initiating its Bitcoin strategy in April 2024, Metaplanet's holdings have grown by over 2,046%, from just 97.850 BTC to the current 2,100 BTC.
Metaplanet has set ambitious targets for its Bitcoin holdings, aiming to own 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and 21,000 BTC by the end of 2026. According to data from the BTC holdings monitor Bitcoin Treasuries, the Japanese firm is now the 14th largest corporate holder of the benchmark crypto asset.
