Under the partnership, Maybank will upgrade its existing capabilities to Microsoft 365, and adopt Microsoft Azure as one of its main cloud platforms for strategic systems, functions, and data workloads. This move aims to provide a state-of-the-art, scalable, resilient, and secure foundation for real-time data analytics, faster deployment of new services, and significant operational efficiencies [1].
The bank will also roll out Microsoft 365 Copilot across all its 44,000 employees. Microsoft 365 Copilot acts as an intelligent assistant that can offload complex tasks from employees, enabling them to innovate further and drive improvements in customer experience, efficiency, and effectiveness of operations [1, 3].
Maybank President and Group CEO, Dato’ Sri Khairussaleh Ramli, emphasized that this partnership is a leap forward in their digital transformation journey beyond their M25+ strategy. He stated, "It’s not just about technology; it’s about thinking ahead on how we can better serve our customers, improving our ways of working, and accelerating innovations" [1, 3].
The partnership also includes the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for both companies to collaborate on developing cloud and AI-powered innovation and nurturing in-house talents in these areas. Microsoft Asean President Mayang Wadhw added that Maybank is transforming how it serves customers while setting a powerful example for the industry across Asean [3].
