The Marc Hotel will be located in downtown Milwaukee and will offer a convenient limited-service option for both convention attendees and travelers. The hotel will maintain the historic name of the Marc Plaza Hotel, which Marcus Corporation purchased in 1972 and renamed in 1995 after adopting the Hilton Hotels flag.
Gregory S. Marcus, the chief executive officer of Marcus Corporation, stated, "With The Marc Hotel, we achieve two objectives: supporting the city and the ability for the Baird Center to attract larger conventions by maintaining the current levels of hotel room supply. Additionally, this allows us to keep this part of the asset productive while we wait to transition it to a new use, should the future growth of the convention center and the strategic needs of the city dictate this course of action."
The hotel will undergo limited modifications to its ground floor common space to create a main entrance on North 6th Street, with an anticipated opening in January 2026.
The Marc Hotel will be the 17th hotel, resort, or other property owned or managed by Marcus Hotels & Resorts in the U.S. The company's distinctive portfolio includes city-center meeting hotels, upscale resorts, historic properties, and premium branded and independent first-class hotels.
