Canadian digital infrastructure company Luxxfolio has filed a preliminary shelf prospectus to raise up to CAD$100 million (approximately $73 million) to bolster its Litecoin-focused treasury strategy. This move comes just months after the company pivoted from Bitcoin mining to become a Litecoin-first infrastructure provider.
The prospectus, submitted to Canadian regulators excluding Québec, allows Luxxfolio to issue a mix of securities, including shares, debt, and warrants, over a 25-month window. CEO Tomek Antoniak stated that the capital raise will provide the company with "financial flexibility" to scale operations and accelerate Litecoin adoption.
Luxxfolio aims to acquire 1 million LTC by 2026, with Litecoin creator Charlie Lee now on its advisory board. The company's recent quarterly report showed a Q2 net loss of $197,000, up from $8,000 a year earlier. Despite the financial strain, Luxxfolio has outlined an ambitious goal of acquiring 1 million LTC by 2026.
The company's shift to Litecoin as its primary focus has drawn attention from other companies as well. U.S.-listed pharmaceutical firm MEI Pharma recently acquired $100 million worth of Litecoin, making it the first American company to adopt LTC as its main treasury asset. MEI bought 929,548 LTC between July 30 and August 4 at an average price of $107.58, with the holdings now worth roughly $115 million.
The funds raised by Luxxfolio will be used to strengthen Litecoin infrastructure and treasury programs, as well as other growth initiatives. The company's move highlights a rising trend: companies are increasingly holding altcoins like Litecoin in their treasuries, a strategy that could pique institutional interest when these cryptocurrencies prove useful in the real world.
