Louisiana Attorney General Sues Roblox Over Alleged Child Exploitation and Lack of Safety Protocols.

Louisiana Attorney General has filed a lawsuit against Roblox, accusing the gaming platform of enabling child exploitation and providing a haven for pedophiles due to inadequate safety measures. The lawsuit claims that Roblox fails to monitor user interactions and neglects to enforce its own safety policies, putting children at risk. The platform has been popular among children, with over 100 million monthly active users.

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill has filed a lawsuit against Roblox, alleging that the popular online gaming platform has failed to implement adequate safety measures to protect child users from adult predators. The lawsuit, filed in state court, accuses Roblox of enabling the distribution of child sexual abuse material and facilitating the sexual exploitation of children in the state [1].

The lawsuit, which was initiated on Thursday, alleges that Roblox has not implemented basic safety controls to protect child users from predators, despite having over 380 million active monthly users, more than half of whom are under 16 [2]. Murrill’s office states that Roblox’s lack of age verification and safety protocols hinders law enforcement investigations, allowing predators to pose as children and minors to bypass age restrictions [2].

Roblox has faced criticism and lawsuits in recent months for its handling of child safety. Last month, a lawsuit was filed in Iowa after a 13-year-old girl was allegedly introduced to an adult predator on the platform, leading to her kidnapping, trafficking across multiple states, and rape. Louisiana’s Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard has also reported multiple cases involving Roblox, including an incident where a man allegedly used voice-altering technology to pose as a girl on the platform [1].

In response to mounting criticism, Roblox has implemented additional safety measures, including an artificial intelligence system designed to detect early signs of possible child endangerment. The AI system has led to the submission of 1,200 reports of potential child exploitation attempts to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in the first half of 2025 [3].

The lawsuit seeks permanent injunctive relief prohibiting Roblox from violating Louisiana’s Unfair Trade Practices law, banning false claims about its safety measures, and ordering restitution to the state along with any additional civil damages allowed by law [2].

Louisiana’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is assisting in such cases, working with 50 sheriffs’ offices, 11 police departments, the Louisiana State Police, the FBI, and Homeland Security [2].
