LONGi Shares Sustainable Practices in Combating Desertification at COP16 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

In the heart of Saudi Arabia, the 16th Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) is underway, and LONGi, the world's leading solar technology company, is at the forefront of the global effort to combat desertification. At the China Pavilion and a side event hosted by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), LONGi shared its innovative practices and significant achievements in desertification control, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

LONGi's participation in COP16 aligns with several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 15 (Life on Land) and SDG 13 (Climate Action). By implementing photovoltaic (PV) power stations in desert areas, such as the 336kW and 338kW stations in the Kubuqi Desert, LONGi actively explores green ecological development models like "generating electricity on the panels, planting under the panels, and breeding between the panels." These initiatives help combat desertification, land degradation, and promote sustainable land use, contributing to SDG 15. Additionally, LONGi's PV modules absorb sunlight, provide shade, and reduce water evaporation during the day, promoting condensation at night and effectively promoting local vegetation growth, which aligns with SDG 13's target to take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
