ADA--
The kiosks, developed by LG Electronics USA, feature height-adjustable screens, tactile input options, voice guidance, and screen reader compatibility. They are available in 22- and 27-inch screen sizes with high-brightness, low-reflectivity displays designed for diverse lighting conditions. The kiosks support both portrait and landscape modes and are offered in three hardware versions: countertop, fixed-height pedestal, and motorized height-adjustable pedestal. This modular design ensures accessibility for wheelchair users and individuals of varying heights, promoting independent use.
LG collaborated with Tech for All (TFA), a noted accessibility consultant, throughout the design and development process. The early engagement with TFA ensured that accessibility was embedded in the DNA of the kiosks, avoiding costly late-stage hardware changes. The kiosks support a variety of assistive technologies, including Vispero's JAWS® for Kiosk screen reader, Storm Interface's tactile AudioNav™ keypads, and SoundHound AI's voice interface for hands-free commands. They also support Epson receipt printers and modular barcode/QR scanners, with a webcam accessory in development to expand functionality.
The kiosks are designed to be platform flexible, compatible with applications such as Kokomo 24/7® for health and safety management in education and clinical settings. Their accessible design makes them suitable for retail, transit, healthcare, and hospitality environments.
The announcement coincides with the 35th anniversary of the ADA, highlighting LG's commitment to creating a "Better Life for All." By prioritizing accessibility, LG sets a new standard in the industry, demonstrating a proactive approach to inclusive technology.
