Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense confirmed the interception of 12 drones and 14 missiles launched from Iran on March 6, 2026, during early morning hours according to the ministry. The attacks, which breached Kuwaiti airspace, were countered by air defense systems in northern and central regions, with missile interceptions reported in the south. Colonel Saud Abdulaziz Al-Atwan, the ministry’s spokesperson, stated that two missiles fell outside the designated threat zone, causing material damage from debris but no casualties. Explosions heard nationwide were attributed to successful interceptions of ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as drones.

The General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army emphasized that the armed forces remain prepared to defend national sovereignty and stability. The ministry urged citizens to adhere to safety protocols amid the heightened security environment. Regional tensions have escalated, with neighboring Gulf states, including Qatar and Saudi Arabia, also reporting intercepted drone and missile attacks targeting facilities hosting U.S. military personnel. Adm. Brad Cooper of U.S. Central Command noted that Iranian attacks have affected 12 countries, signaling potential for increased regional collaboration in response.

Financial markets remain sensitive to geopolitical risks in the Gulf, where energy infrastructure and regional stability are critical to global oil markets. While no immediate economic data reflects direct impacts from the March 6 incidents, prolonged tensions could influence investment flows and commodity prices.
