European payments giant Klarna has announced its intention to explore the integration of cryptocurrencies into its platform. In a recent post on X, CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski revealed that the company would be looking into ways to incorporate cryptocurrencies, although he acknowledged that the process might take some time.

Klarna, a Swedish fintech company valued at $14.8 billion, is popular in Europe for its "buy now, pay later" service. With over 85 million users and $100 billion in volume, the company has been around since 2005 and has received backing from prominent venture capitalist Sequoia Capital, which holds a 22% stake in Klarna. Sequoia has also invested in other fintech and crypto-focused companies, such as Avalanche, Fireblocks, Stripe, and crypto exchange EDX Markets.

Siemiatkowski's announcement comes as many other fintech firms have already incorporated crypto into their platforms. Companies like Robinhood, Venmo, and Revolut allow users to buy, sell, and hold certain cryptocurrencies on their apps. While Siemiatkowski did not specify how Klarna would integrate cryptocurrencies, he did mention that the company would explore all options and that it might take some time to have a plan in place.
