The revised rank list for the KEAM 2025 entrance examination has been published, with Joshua Jacob Thomas topping the list with a score of 588.5773 out of 600. The list was prepared using the previous normalization formula, which was reinstated by the High Court after quashing the original rank list. This decision came after the court noted that the state government had acted beyond the recommendations of its own expert committee. The number of State Board toppers declined significantly, with only 21 students making it to the top 100 ranks, down from 43 in the original list. The revised list saw substantial reshuffling, with John Sinoj, who topped the original list, slipping to seventh place after his score was revised downward by 0.7812 marks.
The government had accepted the High Court's order and published the revised rank list as directed. The Division Bench of Justice Anil K. Narendran and Justice Muralee Krishna S. observed that it found no ground to interfere with the Single Bench order, which had directed the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations to publish the rank list in accordance with the prospectus issued in February.
The expert committee, constituted to review the new normalization method, had expressed concerns about the scientific appropriateness of implementing the new method without comprehensive studies. The committee concluded that more authoritative studies and validations were necessary before the new method could be accepted as a definitive advantage. The committee also suggested maintaining the status quo until the advantages of the new method were proven with authoritative evidence.
The revised rank list was published on July 1, 2025, following the High Court's order. The list includes 76,230 qualified students and 67,505 in the final engineering rank list.
