Japan is set to restart the world's largest nuclear power plant, Kashiwazaki-Kariwa, after a 15-year hiatus following the Fukushima disaster. The decision comes as the country tries to wean itself off imported fossil fuels. Around 300 protesters gathered in Niigata prefecture ahead of the vote, expressing concerns over TEPCO's ability to operate the plant safely. If approved, the first reactor is expected to be restarted on January 20.
