Iridium Communications has partnered with Deutsche Telekom to provide satellite connectivity services. Iridium will offer its satellite network, consisting of 66 operational satellites and related ground infrastructure, to Deutsche Telekom for voice and data communications services. This partnership will expand Iridium's customer base and provide Deutsche Telekom with a global satellite network for its customers.

Iridium Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: IRDM) has announced a strategic partnership with Deutsche Telekom (DTAG) to extend global IoT connectivity through the integration of Iridium NTN Direct service. The collaboration aims to provide seamless global coverage and enhance Deutsche Telekom's IoT capabilities, positioning the company at the forefront of standards-based IoT innovation.

The partnership will leverage Iridium's constellation of 66 operational satellites and related ground infrastructure to offer voice and data communications services. Deutsche Telekom will gain roaming access to Iridium's 3GPP standards-based 5G service, enabling NB-IoT direct-to-device (D2D) connectivity. This integration will support a wide range of IoT applications, including messaging, tracking, and status updates for various devices and industries.

Iridium's CEO, Matt Desch, commented on the partnership, stating, "Iridium NTN Direct is designed to complement terrestrial networks like Deutsche Telekom and provide seamless global coverage, extending the reach of their own infrastructure." The planned commercial launch of the service is scheduled for 2026, allowing Deutsche Telekom's IoT customers to roam onto the Iridium network. This integration will support use cases such as international cargo logistics, remote utility monitoring, smart agriculture, and emergency response.

The Iridium constellation is the only network delivering truly global coverage using L-band spectrum, providing reliable connectivity through both routine and extreme weather events. Its LEO orbit offers superior coverage, look angles, and lower latency compared to geostationary systems.
