Intel Corporation announced that Chen Lihui will take office as CEO on March 18, marking a historic milestone as the first Chinese CEO in the company's history.

On March 12, in San Jose, California, Intel CorporationINTC-- announced the appointment of Chen Lihui, a senior technology leader, as CEO, effective March 18. Chen Lihui will succeed the interim co-CEOs David Zaslav and Michelle Johnston-Hofz, with Zaslav continuing as executive vice president and CFO, and Johnston-Hofz continuing to lead Intel's product business.

Chen Lihui is the first Chinese CEO in Intel's history. He previously served as CEO of Cadence Design SystemsCDNS--, a leading EDA company, and is known as the "father of chip venture capital" in the chip venture capital field.

Chen Lihui, with more than 20 years of experience in the semiconductor and software industry, is seen as a key step for IntelINTC-- to accelerate its profitability and seize future growth opportunities. Chen Lihui said he would work to make Intel an engineering-focused company, develop the best products, and build customer trust. He served as a former director of SMIC and has a deep understanding and affection for the Chinese semiconductor industry.
