Indian Navy welcomes NIT-K graduate Anannya Rao as Sub-Lieutenant

Anannya Rao, a mechanical engineering graduate from NIT-K, has been commissioned into the Indian Navy as Sub-Lieutenant after completing a 10-month military training program. Rao, a former NCC cadet, aspired to serve the country fueled by her experience and engineering foundation. She was formally inducted into the Navy during the Passing Out Parade held on May 31.

Anannya Rao, a mechanical engineering graduate from the National Institute of Technology – Karnataka (NIT-K), Surathkal, has been commissioned into the Indian Navy as Sub-Lieutenant after completing a 10-month military training program. Rao, a former NCC cadet, aspired to serve the country, fueled by her experience and engineering foundation. She was formally inducted into the Navy during the Passing Out Parade held on May 31 [2].

Rao's journey began at NIT-K, where she honed her skills in mechanical engineering. Her experience as a NCC cadet further instilled in her a sense of discipline and dedication, which she carried into her military training at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala [3]. Rao's father, Retired Telecom Officer Mr. Satish Rao, is actively involved in empowering persons with disabilities and serves as the district treasurer of the national organization 'Saksham'. Her mother, Ms. Veena Rao, has also been a source of support and inspiration for her daughter's achievements [3].
