IIT Guwahati Launches Underwater Welding, Repair Programme with Indian Register of Shipping Support.

IIT Guwahati has launched an underwater welding and repair program, supported by the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS). Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal attended the inauguration and distributed certificates to seven youth who completed the Underwater Welding Certification Program. Sonowal praised the collaboration and observed a live demonstration of 3D metal printing-based repair of a marine propeller. He expressed satisfaction at the program's potential to create skilled employment opportunities and strengthen India's maritime capacity.
