IEX August renewable energy certificates traded were 2.19M
Title: Renewable Energy Investment and IEX's Q3 PerformanceRenewable energy investments in India's sector surged by 45% in August 2025, reaching $1.235 billion, according to JMK Research. This significant increase was primarily driven by substantial financing deals for solar and wind projects [1]. Notably, Juniper Green Energy secured Rs 1,739 crore in debt financing from the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) to support its growth and development [1].
In the same month, Acme Hybrid Urja, a subsidiary of ACME Solar, secured Rs 3,184 crore in long-term project financing from REC for its 280 MW renewable energy project [1]. The total renewable energy tenders issued in August 2025 amounted to over 5,750 MW, with approximately 250 MW of firm and dispatchable renewable capacity and 275 MW/800 MWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) capacity allocated to various developers [1].
Looking at the broader renewable energy landscape, between January 2025 and July 2025, around 21,151 MW of solar and 3,976 MW of wind energy generation capacity were added in India, bringing the cumulative renewable capacity to around 237.5 GW [1]. This is a substantial increase compared to the same period last year, where only 13,889 MW of solar and 2,339 MW of wind capacity were added.
In a separate development, Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) reported a 16.9% year-over-year (YoY) rise in consolidated profit after tax (PAT) to ₹107.3 crore in Q3 FY25, with revenue up 13.7% to ₹160.5 crore [2]. The electricity volumes rose by 16% YoY, supported by improved supply and lower clearing prices. The management expects continued volume growth amid regulatory progress on long-duration contracts and green RTM.
Additionally, IEX's renewable energy certificates traded in August 2025 were 2.19 million units, indicating a robust market for renewable energy certificates.
