Zcash (ZEC) surged nearly 30% in 24 hours after crypto entrepreneur Arthur Hayes predicted the privacy-focused token could eventually reach $10,000, according to Coinpaper. The rally, which saw ZECZEC-- climb from $272 to a peak of $355, outperformed all other top 50 tokens by market capitalization over the same period, according to Cointelegraph. The move came following Hayes' "vibe check" post on X, where he highlighted Zcash's potential amid evolving market dynamics.

Hayes, known for his market-moving predictions, previously forecasted a 126-fold increase in Hyperliquid's HYPE token at the WebX 2025 conference in Tokyo, sparking a 4% price spike. His latest endorsement of ZcashZEC-- appears to have reignited similar enthusiasm, with traders attributing the surge to fear of missing out (FOMO). AB Kuai Dong, a crypto trader and Binance Square contributor, described Hayes as a "legendary Silicon Valley investor" whose comments triggered a "full month's FOMO market frenzy". Clemente, a board member of K9Strategy, admitted to joining the rally, stating, "so much fomo I couldn't keep myself sidelined to this run".

The price action reflects broader interest in privacy-focused cryptocurrencies. JonnyJpegs, a trader and investor, noted that the rally may stem from users seeking privacy tools as governments intensify scrutiny of encryption technologies. Zcash, launched in 2016, uses zero-knowledge proofs to enable fully shielded transactions, hiding sender, receiver, and transaction amounts. Fellow privacy coin Monero (XMR) also gained 3.6% to $346, despite being delisted on major exchanges like Binance.

Zcash's 30-day rally has been even more dramatic, with a 490% price increase and a market capitalization crossing the $5 billion threshold for the first time. This follows a pattern seen in older privacy coins like DashDASH--, which are also experiencing rebounds. Analysts suggest that regulatory pressures on digital privacy could further fuel demand for such assets.

Hayes' influence extends beyond Zcash. At the WebX 2025 conference, his bullish call on Hyperliquid's HYPE token led to a 4% spike, illustrating his ability to drive short-term market sentiment. However, critics caution that FOMO-driven rallies can be volatile, and long-term adoption of privacy coins depends on technological adoption and regulatory developments.
