Poland and France will sign a treaty committing to help each other in case of a military threat. The treaty covers defense, energy, nuclear, and transport matters. Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the treaty provides "groundbreaking" safety provisions and opens up opportunities for cooperation on extending the French nuclear umbrella to Poland. The agreement is not an alternative to Poland's relations with the US.
