XOM--

, 2025, . The energy giant’s shares drew heightened attention amid evolving market dynamics in the oil and gas sector.

The stock’s performance coincided with industry-wide discussions on production strategies and geopolitical developments affecting hydrocarbon markets. Analysts noted that XOM’s volume spike reflected renewed investor confidence in its operational resilience amid fluctuating commodity prices.

To run this back-test robustly I need to pin down a few practical details and confirm that the test scope matches what the system can execute: 1. Market universe • Are we working with U.S.–listed equities (NYSE + NASDAQ), or another market? . Ranking rule • “Top 500 by daily trading volume” – is that by dollar value (shares × price) or by share count? . Trade timing • Do we buy the portfolio at today’s close (after seeing today’s volume) and exit at tomorrow’s close, or buy at tomorrow’s open instead? . Portfolio construction • Equal-weight each of the 500 names for the one-day hold? . Tool limitation • The built-in back-test engine runs on one ticker at a time. For a many-stock strategy we need to aggregate outside that engine (i.e., pull volume and price for every stock each day, form the 500-stock basket, compute the equal-weighted return). That requires a larger custom data pull and calculation step. If you’re comfortable with that approach, I can proceed; otherwise we could approximate with a narrower subset or a representative ETF. Please let me know your preferences on the above so I can set up the back-test correctly.
