Volvo Cars has shifted production of its EX30 models for the US market from its plant in Zhangjiakou, China, to Ghent, Belgium, to avoid high tariffs. Production in Ghent began in April for European markets, and the move is expected to reduce vehicle wait times and avoid hefty tariffs on Chinese imports. The shift is also aimed at improving the compact EV's competitiveness in the US, where tariffs on Chinese imports are significantly higher than those on European imports. Volvo plans to rely more on its Ghent and South Carolina plants for its US product lineup in the coming years.
