Enterprises in Europe are increasingly leveraging cognitive AI to transform their operations and decision-making processes, according to a new study by Information Services Group (ISG). The 2024 ISG Provider Lens™ Advanced Analytics and AI Services reports reveal that companies are adopting an AI-first approach, treating data as a strategic asset to address industry challenges, supply chain disruptions, and economic uncertainties.
The reports evaluate 53 large and midsize providers and 25 specialist providers across various service quadrants. Key trends include the growing importance of AI ethics and compliance, the emergence of specialist providers offering responsible AI solutions, and increased development of verticalized AI solutions. The analytics services market is experiencing continued growth, driven by technologies like generative AI, with providers developing innovative frameworks and customizable solutions for automating AI insights.
Notable Leaders in multiple quadrants include Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, and several other major firms, while DXC Technology earned recognition as the global ISG CX Star Performer for 2024.

The study highlights the growing adoption of AI technologies in various sectors, with the information and communication sector leading the way at 48.72% in 2024. Professional, scientific, and technical service activities follow closely at 30.53%. These sectors' success in leveraging cognitive AI can be attributed to their ability to recognize the value of data as a strategic asset and invest in AI technologies that can help them extract insights from that data.
However, European enterprises must also balance the potential benefits of cognitive AI with the risks associated with data privacy, security, and ethical concerns. The European Union (EU) has taken a proactive approach to address these challenges by implementing regulatory measures to safeguard its citizens. The EU finalized its AI regulatory act in 2024, which aims to regulate and protect citizens from harmful AI. Additionally, the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) plays a crucial role in protecting data privacy and security.
In conclusion, European enterprises are embracing cognitive AI to gain a competitive edge in the rapidly evolving business landscape. By treating data as a strategic asset and investing in AI technologies, these enterprises can extract valuable insights to drive innovation, enhance customer experiences, and improve decision-making. However, they must also remain vigilant in addressing the risks associated with data privacy, security, and ethical concerns, adhering to the EU's regulatory measures to ensure responsible AI development and deployment.
