Ethereum has initiated a major upgrade with the deployment of the BPO-1 protocol, increasing its blob capacity to 15 per block and reducing Layer 2 fees. This enhancement is expected to improve scalability for platforms like ArbitrumARB-- and OptimismOP--. The upgrade follows Ethereum's continued dominance in real-world asset tokenization, where it controls about 65% of on-chain value, or roughly $19 billion.

Meanwhile, the Q4 2025 report revealed EthereumETH-- processed $8 trillion in stablecoin transfer volume, reinforcing its role as the leading platform for digital asset issuance. The network's share of stablecoin issuance remains at 57%, significantly ahead of its closest competitor, TronTRX--.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has claimed the network has overcome the blockchain trilemma by implementing Peer Data Availability Sampling (PeerDAS) and ZK-EVMs, which are expected to operate on a large scale in 2026. According to reports, these advancements are transforming Ethereum into a more powerful and decentralized network.

What Drives Ethereum's Institutional Adoption?

Institutional investment in Ethereum has surged, with stablecoin issuance on the network surpassing $59 billion, accounting for over 62% of the market. Ethereum also leads the tokenized asset sector, hosting $12.5 billion in tokenized assets and capturing over 65% of the total market.
