ESBA--

The ESB has ended coal use at its Moneypoint power station in Co Clare, six months ahead of schedule. The facility will now use oil for the next few years, which is less carbon-intensive than coal. The move is part of the station's transformation into a renewable energy hub, with a wind farm and a €50 million synchronous compensator installed in 2022. Oil use is expected to end in 2029.
