Drone Assault Disrupts Moscow Air Traffic Amid Rising Geopolitical Tensions

On November 10, a wave of drone attacks targeted Moscow, leading to the temporary suspension of flight operations at several key airports. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin announced that 32 drones were intercepted and destroyed by the Russian military's air defense systems in the Moscow region, encompassing Ramenskoye, Domodedovo, and Kolomna districts.

This drone assault forced Moscow's Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky airports to halt departures and arrivals temporarily, as confirmed by Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency. The interruption began at 8:00 AM local time and was extended to Sheremetyevo by 9:45 AM. The aftermath saw significant emergency response efforts underway, with initial reports indicating minor collateral damage, such as one injury and two building fires.

Social media was soon awash with unverified footage purportedly showing fires started by the drones. While the Russian defense ministry refuted further claims of Ukrainian provocation, they noted that similar drone incidents have occurred recently in other regions, such as Bryansk, where additional drones were intercepted.
