TSLA--

The government efficiency unit (DOGE) led by Musk is reportedly cutting jobs at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which regulates carmakers including Tesla (TSLA.US), and has launched an investigation into fatal crashes involving the electric vehicle maker's vehicles. The NHTSA has cut "a small number" of positions, according to a statement from the agency. Musk has accused the NHTSA of holding back progress on autonomous technology through investigations and recalls. The NHTSA is also requiring carmakers using autonomous technology, including Tesla, to report crash data, which the company has criticized, and regulators are concerned the requirement could be rescinded. The statement said: "We retained positions critical to saving lives, preventing injuries, and reducing the economic costs of roadway crashes."
