Dexcom launches an AI-powered Smart Food Logging feature for Stelo and Dexcom G7 apps. The feature automatically identifies ingredients and populates meal descriptions through photo capture, simplifying the meal logging process and helping users understand the impact of their dietary choices on glucose levels. This addition aligns with Dexcom's commitment to innovative glucose management solutions.

San Diego, CA – Dexcom, Inc., a leading innovator in glucose biosensing technology, has announced the launch of its AI-powered Smart Food Logging feature across its Stelo and Dexcom G7 apps. This new feature simplifies the meal logging process by automatically identifying ingredients and populating meal descriptions through photo capture, enhancing users' understanding of the impact of their dietary choices on glucose levels.

The Smart Food Logging feature leverages advanced AI technology to scan and identify ingredients in photographed meals. Users can now simply take a picture of their food in the Stelo or Dexcom G7 app, and the AI will automatically populate the meal description. This innovation removes barriers to consistent food tracking, making it easier for users to log their meals and gain insights into their glucose levels.

Jake Leach, president and chief operating officer at Dexcom, stated, "Diet plays a crucial role in managing glucose levels, and our new Smart Food Logging feature removes barriers to food tracking, making it easier to consistently log and understand the impact of meals. Smart Food Logging has long been a highly requested feature from users across our product portfolio, so we’re excited to bring it to market and hope this enhanced tracking feature makes managing glucose levels even simpler."

This feature joins other recent enhancements across Dexcom's glucose biosensing portfolio, including Weekly Insights in Stelo, Stelo integration with Oura, customizable target ranges in Dexcom G7, and Glucose Impact in both Stelo and Dexcom G7. These innovations reflect Dexcom's ongoing commitment to innovation and AI-driven solutions.

The addition of Smart Food Logging is a significant step forward in the diabetes technology sector, which is experiencing a seismic shift driven by the convergence of AI and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM). By integrating AI into its CGM ecosystem, Dexcom is enhancing user engagement and unlocking new value in personalized health insights.

In 2024, Dexcom reported $4.033 billion in revenue, with a 12% organic growth rate, and Q1 2025 revenue surged 21% year-over-year to $995 million. These figures underscore the growing demand for AI-enhanced CGM solutions. Dexcom's market share in the CGM space stands at 35.2%, trailing Abbott's 56.74% but outpacing Medtronic's 6.88%.
