The USDXUSDX-- stablecoin, issued by Stable Labs, has plunged to $0.74 as of its latest update, maintaining a significant depeg from its $1 target. The token's value has been in freefall since November 6, 2025, when it dropped to an intraday low of $0.3736, sparking widespread concern across decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms and prompting urgent governance actions. The collapse, attributed to the Balancer V2 Vault exploit that drained over $100 million, has exposed vulnerabilities in synthetic stablecoin mechanisms and triggered a chain reaction of liquidity crises, according to a Bitcoin.com report.

The depeg began as a result of forced liquidations tied to Stable Labs' hedged positions in BitcoinBTC-- and EthereumETH--, which destabilized its delta-neutral collateral strategy. On-chain data reveals that USDX's portfolio had not been actively rebalanced in over two months, raising questions about its operational diligence, according to a FinanceFeeds analysis. Meanwhile, a wallet linked to Stable Labs founder Flex Yang was observed using USDX as collateral to swap into other stablecoins like USDCUSDC-- and USDTUSDT-- on platforms such as EulerEUL-- and ListaLISTA--, further draining liquidity, according to TradingView coverage.

In response to the crisis, Lista DAOLISTA-- launched an emergency governance vote (LIP 022) to enable forced liquidation of USDX markets. The proposal, backed by 18 veLISTA token holders, aims to adjust oracle prices and trigger liquidations to curb losses, as reported by an Investorempires post. MEV Capital, one of the affected vault managers, has already set allocation caps to zero and revised interest rate models for the USDT/sUSDX market. PancakeSwapCAKE--, a Binance-backed exchange, has advised users to review their exposure to USDX-related pools while monitoring the situation (reported by TradingView).

The fallout has mirrored the 2025 collapse of Stream Finance's xUSDXUSD-- stablecoin, which lost its peg after a $93 million exploit. Experts warn that cross-collateralized DeFi structures amplify systemic risks, urging stronger collateral diversification to prevent cascading failures, according to a Bitget report. A whale investor, 0xe454, recently spent $800,000 to purchase 933,241 USDX tokens during the depeg, betting on a recovery despite ongoing redemption delays (reported by Bitget).

As the U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) surges above 100 for the first time since August, macroeconomic pressures add to crypto market jitters. Bitcoin, historically inversely correlated with the dollar, faces headwinds as risk appetite wanes, according to a Yahoo Finance piece. The interplay between fiat and digital assets underscores the fragility of DeFi ecosystems, where synthetic stablecoins like USDX serve as linchpins for liquidity and yield strategies.
