Customers will be more than just Amazon! Rivian(RIVN.US) begins selling vans to fleets.
Rivian Automotive (RIVN.US), the upstart American electric vehicle company, announced on Monday that it would open sales of its Rivian Commercial Van electric delivery vans to fleets of all sizes in the United States, indicating the company's active expansion in the business fleet market.
The Rivian Commercial Van is the underlying platform for Amazon's customized electric delivery vehicles (EDV).
Rivian has been testing its commercial vans in several large fleets in the United States since the end of its exclusive operating period with Amazon and its backer, and preparing fleet management processes for a more mainstream market. These pilot projects have paved the way for Rivian to further expand its sales business.
In the future, this channel is expected to become an important source of revenue for Rivian. The market for commercial electric trucks is growing rapidly, and a research report from Mordor Intelligence shows that the agency expects the North American van market to reach US$16.67 billion by 2029.
Rivian can meet the needs of different customers by selling commercial vans to fleets of all sizes, expand the market share of Rivian's commercial vans and overall sales, which were previously limited to exclusive agreements with Amazon. In addition, commercial trucks usually have higher profit margins, and Rivian can further increase sales by providing intelligent value-added services such as electric vehicle software subscriptions.
